A much safer and secure than the password authentication is to set up the private key for ssh access.
Generate and utilise SSH access using key pair
For this, you will require the WHM root access, where you can access it via domain.tld/whm or domain.tld:2086/2087.
- Log in to WHM.
- Click Security Center.
- Click Manage root’s SSH Keys.
- Click on “Generate a new key” under “Manage root’s SSH Keys”
- Fill in the fields as follows:
Name: Self Explanatory
Key Password: Use the password generator
Key Type: RSA
Key Size: 2048 and above.Click on “Generate Key”

Click on “Manage Authorization”

Click on “Authorize” in order to make the public key work.

Click on “View/Download Key”

Copy the entire text into a file on your PC and name it key.ppkNow you may proceed with connecting your SSH with your Mac or Windows PC.
