News Of Heberdomaine: Google introduces .dev
Since March 1, 2019, Google has opened a domain, the “.dev”.
The company says this area is dedicated to developers (logically) and technology in general.
A way to bundle various tools, programming languages, or blogs under a single extension.
To host your site under this new domain, you just need to find the host of your choice on Google Registry.
For those who plan to go to Google I/O this year, the Mountain View company offers a .dev domain name for any ticket reserved.
An advantage of this domain, it is secure by default, it requires HTTPS. Google has already migrated several of its sites to .dev, such as web.dev, opensource.dev and flutter.dev.
The web is no longer just .com, .org or .net. From now on, a wide choice of domain exists.
From cool to .ninja, these extensions have real added value. They allow visitors to immediately identify the atmosphere and what the site in question offers.
The famous .com is certainly one of the most expensive domains, .dev could well offer a more affordable alternative.
In early 2018, Google launched the .app.
This area, according to Ben Fried, Chief Information Officer at the firm of the subsidiary of Alphabet, is dedicated to application developers.
This extension allows you to promote an application and devote a landing page to it on the web, for example. In 2015, Google spent no less than $25 million to get a hold of this domain.
Whether .dev will be as successful as .tk remains to be seen. The domain name extension of this small archipelago of 1400 people has more than 30 million domain names.
